3 Proven Steps to Kickstart your Success
Opportunity for success can be found everywhere, however very few ever really find it.
Most people spend a lifetime silently searching; hoping to find their opportunity to succeed in life. If you were to ask the majority of people who’re just starting their work life, if they felt confident they’d succeed; the majority would say yes. Getting started feels new, fresh and exciting. You feel like you’ve all the time in the world to get to where you want to go.
The tragedy is, as years roll by, the hope and the motivation that drives human beings to create the life they’d imagined is replaced by a quiet acceptance of defeat. What was once robust optimism is replaced by logical rational reason.
These are the excuses people invent to explain why they’ve not accomplished what they’d intended to do.
The success many dream of when they’re getting started is often replaced by limitations, thinking that holds them in bondage they now call ‘reality’.
Deep down most people want to succeed. This is the ‘spark’ or a feeling deep down that’s seeking expression. Most people know what they want. They just don’t know how to get it. They don’t know how to achieve what’s really important to them, how to go from the results they are getting now to the results they want for their life.
The success most people desire seems to elude them. It’s the ‘how’ that usually stalls individuals from experiencing success and if this outcome is prolonged for long enough, then most generally start lowering their expectations.
Most live their entire life consenting to ideas that hold them where they are. They never succeed in achieving what they really want for their life.
The only real tragedy in life is never becoming the person you are meant to be.
“The two most important days in your life are
the day you are born and the day you find out why."
– Mark Twain.
Everyone possesses all the talent, ability and the resources they need to accomplish all they imagined for themselves. If you can see what you want in your mind and believe it in your heart, then you can have it.
Success or failure is a choice. It’s interesting, the majority of people on planet earth look for proof to support why they’ve chosen the latter. What have you chosen? Have you chosen to argue for failure? It’s almost as if most people default to failure.
Successful people have worked out how to achieve what they set their mind to. They’ve learned to accomplish what the majority would consider to be out of their reach. Successful people know they can do it again and again. Success doesn’t always happen overnight. And even successful people experience failure. It’s how they respond to failure that makes the difference. They just adjust their plan and go again.
“Quitters never win and
Winners never quit.”
- Napoleon Hill
Most successful individuals who’ve figured out how to achieve success, have had to personally overcome something to get there. Overcome a significant challenge.
“The truth is, it’s perfectly normal to achieve the success you want.
We are designed to succeed, however, the vast majority of people on the planet
are conditioned to live in bondage to limiting beliefs, routines and ideas.”
You will succeed in any endeavor you’re passionate about, when you learn to apply the necessary steps required to eliminate distractions. You’ll start making deliberate decisions, just like successful people would do. When you learn to effectively integrate the laws that govern achievement in your everyday living, you’ll immediately begin receiving the new improved results you really want. Better outcomes that you can use as stepping stones to lift your life from where you are to where you want to go.
Success is a system, it’s not chance or luck.
- Bob Proctor
There’s a misconception that successful people accomplish success through extraordinary talent, ability and exhausting hard work. While these factors will often help many succeed, true success comes quicker when you learn to shift your paradigm.
It’s the conditioned thoughts and ideas that you’ve inherited as you’ve traveled through your life that limit your ability to be more effective and move, unhindered, in the direction of what you want.
When I came across this little known secret for success, it got my full attention. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, I chose to pursue this line of thinking for my own mental health. The simple fact that most successful people start from nothing gave me the hope and the motivation to seek out the necessary steps required to achieve the success I needed for my life and for my family. I started to argue for success. I went about finding all the information I could to support the idea that I could win just like others do.
You see, many years ago my wife and I decided to move, with our two young children, back to Australia. I was born in Australia and grew up in Zimbabwe. So even though I had always had an Australian passport I had no idea what it was like to live and work in a fast moving, expensive first world country. We’d lived most of our working life, up until then, in the bush, based out of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
In the first few years back I’d successfully opened two retail stores in Sydney and then (Like many poorly conceived ideas) we very quickly ran out of the cash required to fund all the mistakes we were making. Everything came to a grinding halt. I had very effectively lost everything my wife and I had, in just a few short years. In addition we had a business partner who we owed money to. Talk about a massive emotional impact for my mental health to deal with.
“When I started out I had no doubt that we’d make our business succeed,
but out of ignorance I ignored too many fundamental success principles.”
I went from feeling like we’re getting started on the road to success in our new country, to feeling crushed and overwhelmed by the weight of my circumstances.
I had created this mess. I was to blame. Here we were, my wife and I with two young children, living in Sydney Australia, no money, debt, no first world work experience, no tertiary education, no business network, I felt like I was being crushed with my back pressed hard up against a wall.
To say the least my confidence was somewhat battered. To compound everything I was reminded every day that I was unemployable. I applied for job after job with not even a response.
Fortunately, my challenge was to become my greatest blessing.
My perceived lack of options opened my mind. You could say, I was very motivated to succeed going forward. I had to work out how I was going to recover from the financial setback I’d created. Frankly, I believed I had no choice but to recreate myself. No one was coming to save me.
So I started looking for new information. Transformation only comes from new ideas. I was fascinated by the whole subject of success. I had to find out why some people seem to win with no more effort than the effort I was investing in failing.
It was at this time I was introduced to the teachings from a man who ultimately became my mentor, Bob Proctor. His understanding of the laws that govern success ultimately saved me from living my life in confusion and desperation.
Bob Proctor’s coaching programs transformed my life. I am eternally grateful to him for investing his life in developing programs that have helped millions understand how they can improve the quality of their lives by improving the quality of their thinking.
All I wanted to understand is how to improve my ability to earn the income I want to earn.
Bob Proctor is widely regarded as the master of taking complex ideas of our marvelous minds and putting them in simple terms so anyone can understand and apply them to their lives. Everything starts and finishes in your mind.
Over a period of time I’ve continued to learn and apply all I can from Bob’s sixty years of coaching, what is today’s leading-edge life and business transformational material. Material everyone should be taught from the day they arrive on the planet.
Bob Proctor taught me how to draw out of me what it was I really wanted, and then gave me the tools to focus my mind to the exclusion of all distractions.
As a result my wife and I were able to apply these eternal principles and built a new company, in a new industry and we were able to successfully sell that business for many times its valuation. We now own our home and my wife never has to work again. We are free to live life on our terms.
In addition, I’m now a Certified Proctor Gallagher Consultant and I’m doing the work I believe I was destined for, facilitating the very Proctor Gallagher coaching programs that transformed my life, our business and that continue to do the same for thousands of others every year.
I now help people become aware of who they truly are and what they are capable of becoming. I guide them through a process so they can uncover their unique gift and why their life has meaning.
I tell you this not to impress you. Not at all. I’m telling you this to impress upon you that if I can create success from where I was (in a new country and from my pathetic predicament I’d put myself and my family in) then you can too.
The principles of success are lawful, when you learn to apply them to your life you will enjoy success. You’ll become aware of how to deliberately create the life you’ve always intended to live.
Napoleon Hill said;
‘No more effort is required to aim high in life,
to demand abundance and prosperity,
than is required to accept misery and poverty.’
Why not choose a life where you’re always aiming to achieve what you set your heart on, and with the confidence that you know you’ll accomplish what’s really important to you?
Most people are being sold on the idea that to have the success they want, they have to work harder. It’s not true. Successful people simply perceive life, challenges, and opportunity from a different point of view.
Most in society continue to support the idea and that
Luck
Hard work
Education
are the key factors that create success.
Yes, they can contribute, but there are many who succeed that don’t work any harder than anyone else, and equally there are many well educated people who never amount to much. Luck is just an explanation people use because they don’t understand how the creative process works.
Choosing success is a personal decision only you can make. Success begins with a committed decision to pursue the good life you’ve always imagined.
Only you can decide what you want for your life, and when you do, it’s up to you to find a way to stay interested in your No.1 Priority (your goal) for long enough, so you stay motivated, focused and you keep taking inspired action.
‘God’s gift to you is more talent and ability
than you could possibly use in your lifetime.
Your gift to God is to develop as much of that
talent and ability as you can in this lifetime.’
- Steve Bow
The necessary steps you need to succeed in anything that’s important to you are many. I don’t believe you ever really master all of them. You just become more aware of how perfectly designed we all are to deliberately create the life we want to live.
You’re designed to become the person you are meant to be. Everyone of us has our own unique ability. Our gift.
Uncovering your gift is a process. Once you reveal your gift, you’ll begin to live your life with intention. With clarity. You will know why your life and your work matters.
‘Success is the progressive realization
of a worthy goal or ideal.’
- Earl Nightingale
Here are 3 proven steps Bob Proctor taught me to kickstart my success. You too can learn to apply these steps to your daily life, regardless of your current level of success you can always become more effective.
1. Get Clarity.
Understand where you are.
Know where you want to go. (Your goal)
Make a committed decision to start immediately from where you are standing right now and continually take inspired action towards what it is you really want in your life. Your No.1 Priority.
2. Study Daily.
Your primary objective is to become aware of who you really are and who you’re truly capable of becoming.
Study success as a subject. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at what a difference 6 months of organized, practical study on the law that governs accomplishment will do to improve your results.
Remember your conditioned thought (Your paradigm) will limit your perception of what you can achieve. Your perception of what is you physical reality right now, is not necessarily the truth.
Study and develop a working understanding of the laws that govern prosperity. The laws of success.
3. Take immediate action.
Focus your mind in the first 5 minutes of your morning on your No.1 Priority (Your GOAL)
Set your intentions for the day, every day.
Work on your next step until it’s complete. Just do the best you can. (Planning to plan is just a form of procrastination, your plan will unfold as you take massive sustained action)
Keep asking yourself ‘what can I do next?’
If you don’t find a way to shift your perception and understanding of what you are truly capable of, then you will continue to get the same or similar results.
If you want to create success in any area of your life then you have to find a way to think thoughts of the person you want to be. Your personal transformation will come through new ideas.
‘We become what we think about most of the time.’
Earl Nightingale
You have to become effective in recognising the limiting beliefs stalling your success, that is, if it’s success you’re looking for. It’s your paradigm that’s influencing your logic.
Paradigms are a multitude of habits fixed in your subconscious mind. It’s a mental program that has almost exclusive control over your habitual behavior. Almost all your behavior is habitual and some of your habitual thought patterns don’t serve you.
98% of our life is running on habitual reactions. Habits are ideas we’ve consented to.
Joel Barker said,
‘To ignore the power of paradigm to influence your judgment
is to put yourself at significant risk when exploring the future.’
Most people who experience positive change and success will almost always do so with no more effort than if they were to stay where they were. We all have the same number of hours in a day.
The only difference between someone who you perceive to be successful and yourself, is that they are more effective at deciding what they should focus on next. They keep working on the next most important task.
The beautiful truth is that you too can start from where you are standing today.
You can become more effective in choosing the right action you need to take next and start moving your life in the direction of what you want.
The whole process starts with you developing a deep emotional connection to your No.1 Priority (Your GOAL), this is the internal beacon that helps you persevere.
The price for success is learning to give up thoughts, ideas and actions of a lower nature to focus on new thoughts, ideas and actions of a higher nature.
I encourage you to start right now. Start with step one, getting clarity.
Make a committed decision to yourself. A committed decision that you’ll choose to find the necessary steps to achieve what you feel is success for you. I suggest that you write out a personal commitment to yourself in your journal.
Then write down 30 things you want to do, be, have, experience (Develop your bucket list if you haven’t got one and the rule is to write down what you want - not what you think you can get)
Out of the 30, choose the one that you feel is the most important and make that your No.1 Priority. (Your GOAL)
Write out your No.1 Priority (Your GOAL) on a card everyday and read it to yourself as often as you can everyday. Spend a few moments every morning and imagine how you’d live when you’ve achieved what you’ve committed yourself to (Your No.1 Priority), then do it again in the afternoon.
Step 2 suggests you develop a daily study routine. If you want to transform your results faster then find a coach to help you move from where you are to where you want to go. A coach will hold you accountable. Accountability is your insurance for success.
Lastly, take action. (Inspiration + movement will create momentum towards what you want)
Write down the next 6 obvious steps to get you moving in the direction of your No.1 Priority and start working on the most important one right away. When that’s done go onto the next task. All you have to do is the best you can everyday.
Make a habit of asking yourself ‘what can I do next.’
When you understand how to get yourself emotionally involved in your No.1 Priority you’ll begin to find you’ll be pulled along by inspiration. Things become a lot more fun. You’ll become pleasantly aware that you’re now thinking thoughts that seem to effortlessly open a path towards your No.1 Priority. (Your GOAL)
To achieve the success you want, you need to understand and effectively apply the laws that govern success. You can do this when you decide to do what it takes to become everything you are meant to be.
